Deepika Padukone Launches the Latest Marie Clare Issue. Wow, she looks great. It's such a pleasant change to see her all glammed up.

While the Verve Sep cover had Deepika in an Indian avatar, the Marie Claire Oct one has her more in a western (sort of) bridal avatar with a black Namrata Joshipura sequin jacket and a white flounce floor-length skirt.

I say sort of because of course, we all know it’s all-white when it comes to western wedding although Ms. Padukone looks mighty good in the black and white.

Deepika padukone dropped from Bodygaurd

Deepika Padukone, who recently said she is keen to co-star with Salman Khan, has missed a chance to do so in Bodyguard.

Bodyguard is being produced by Salman's brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri and, according to the Deccan Herald, Atul was prepared to sign up Deepika as female lead opposite Salman, since he felt she would fit the role.

Following a script narration, Deepika was keen to come on board, but scheduling conflicts proved a bummer.

Atul wanted Deepika to commit 30 days in a stretch, something Deepika realized she could not do.

"Deepika couldn't allocate more than 20 days at a stretch. None of the parties could reach a compromise so Deepika had to say no."

Deepika's bad luck, might well become newcomer Sonakshi Sinha's good luck, as Atul now plans to approach her for the role.

It was the 24-year-old Bollywood star's first appearance at Cannes, and the first time a celebrity has walked the Cannes red carpet in the traditional Indian dress.

However, considering the amount of skin Deepika was showing, it is moot how traditional was her version of the sari.

Tournee (On Tour), directed by Mathieu Amalric, is being screened in the competition section.

Deepika Padukone to play the lead role in Nana Pstekars film

Famous Actor of bollywood Nana Patekar says he will direct his second Hindi film soon and that he has finalised Deepika Padukone for the lead role.”Yes, I am directing a film,” Nana told reporters at a press meet of his first Kannada movie, Yaksha, on Wednesday.”I have already written the script of the film and have selected Deepika Padukone to play the lead role. I haven’t yet finalised other artists and technicians for the movie.” “I am going to my native village in Maharashtra in a few days to make preparations for the film. I have not finalised the launch date of the film.

But it will be worked out very soon,” he added.Nana wielded the megaphone for the first time for Prahaar that had Madhuri Dixit in the lead role.The actor, who will be seen in Prakash Jha’s political thriller Rajneeti, also said: “I have not signed any new film after Rajneeti.” Nana has completed a 13-days shooting schedule of Yaksha, which is his second South-Indian film after Bommalattam. He played a possessive film director in the thriller that didn’t score well at the box-office.”This Kannada film features me in a special role,” said Nana.

Yaksha is being produced by Siddaraju and is directed by debutant director Ramesh Rao. Actor Yogeesh is playing the lead, while Ruby will be seen as his love interest. Deepika Padukone Launches Kingfisher Swimsuit calender 2010

Deepika Padukone Sunday unveiled the 2010 edition of Kingfisher’s swimsuit special calendar.“In the beginning of my career, I was a part of the calendar and it’s becoming better every year. Girls in this calendar have done a fantastic job,” said Deepika, who figured in the 2006 calendar.

“It’s of international standards and it’s one of the best calendars in the world,” she added.

Asked if featuring in the calendar was a good platform to enter Bollywood, Deepika said: “Well, I didn’t use it as a platform to enter the film industry, so I wouldn’t say that. You can’t be a model to be an actor. That’s not what I did. But yes, Farah noticed me as a model and then decided to cast me in ‘Om Shanti Om’.”

“I am very proud of 2010 edition of the Kingfisher swimsuit special,” said Vijay Mallya, UB group chairman before the calendar was unveiled at his palatial home.

Mallya said the calendar has given an opportunity to many young models from India and the world, and he hoped to continue the trend.
